Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer), you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.

Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.

  • Uses independent judgement according to the circumstances of the procedure performs a broad range of ultrasound imaging procedures to create diagnostic medical images that meet the acceptability by the Medical Director. Assists the physician with guidance procedures and intra-operative studies. Maintains a repeat rate of 3%-5%.
  • Positively identifies patient and correlates procedure with physician's order. Explains procedure to patient and responds to patient questions/concerns before beginning. Obtains written consent to proceed when required by hospital standard practice and for invasive procedures that sufficient explanation for informed consent has been given by a physician.
  • Measured by record/chart review with 95%-98% compliance.
  • Reviews patient schedule daily prior to beginning workload to insure there are no scheduling errors, prioritizes exams and maintains patient flow so that scheduled patients wait no longer than 15-20 minutes for their procedure. Informs patient of reason for delay when emergency cases are added on. Measured by no more than 1-02 formal complaints per year.
  • Maintains work area in a neat and clean fashion, observes that equipment is in safe operating condition 95%-98% of the time. Reports equipment issues to supervisor or seeks appropriate resources for repairs within one hour. Measured by observation and no more than 1-2 formal complaints per year.
  • Maintains accurate records of procedures and makes appropriate entries into medical record and R.I.S. Prepares or verifies that internal case file record is complete. Verifies patient symptoms and records additional pertinent information obtained from the patient. Measured by complete documentation 95%-98% of the time.

  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Registered Cardiac Elect (RCES) or
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI (RCS) or
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen (RDMSAB) or
  • Registered Technologist Computed Tomography (RTCT) or
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT or
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
