Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Respiratory Therapist Supervisor, you will lead our Respiratory Care technical staff, providing instruction and evaluation, while assisting the Director/Manager in department management. This role also includes direct patient care as needed.

Every day you will supervise, instruct, and evaluate Respiratory Care Practitioners. You'll assist the Director/Manager in overall department management and provide direct patient care. Daily contacts include subordinates, co-workers, patients, medical staff, and physicians.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, instructional, and evaluative skills, with advanced clinical expertise in respiratory care. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for staff supervision and interdisciplinary contact are essential.

  • Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Assigns day-to-day work activities. Directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
  • Allocate and direct staffing and scheduling needs to meet patient, unit, and departmental needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
  • Manage performance by setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback and recognition, developing skills, and addressing performance issues related to work and Dignity Health commitments in collaboration with the Director.
  • Assists in developing departmental action plans and makes recommendations for training and staff development. Monitors productivity to ensure appropriate utilization of staff. Maintains required records, reports, and statistics for regulatory and budgetary purposes.
  • Provides timely and necessary communication to hospital staff and providers as appropriate to assist in provision of optimal patient care.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Associate's Degree in RespiratoryTherapy or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical acutecare experience as a RespiratoryTherapist
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support
