Methodist Hospital is home to the Family Medicine Residency Program an accredited and nationally recognized program which provides resident physicians with specialty training in primary care family medicine. Together the hospital and residency program implemented a ground-breaking curriculum addressing the identification treatment and assistance of human trafficking victims and created a one-of-a-kind health clinic for victims the Human Trafficking Medical Home.
Responsibilities
This position reports to the Manager Rehab Services Acute/SNF at the Methodist campus. This position is responsible for supervising the day to day operations of the Subacute Program at Bruceville Terrace. This position may require the need to provide direct patient care. The Supervisor is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and integrating the delivery of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Pathology into interdisciplinary programs for the Subacute. The position also develops a strong network with the Regional Leadership of Rehabilitation Programs to facilitate the case management of patients through Mercy's continuum. All activities performed will reflect the Mission and Philosophy of Dignity Health.
The position's primary responsibilities include the fair and objective supervision of subordinates, implementation of the budget including proper utilization of FTE's, Quality Assessment and Improvement, utilization review, equipment ordering, safety in-services, staff development, staff orientation, staff scheduling, program development, incident investigation, clinical outcomes management, human resources issues, hiring/firing, interviewing, performance appraisals, ongoing monitoring of interdepartmental relations, and the development of goals, policies, and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality patient services. This position requires thorough clinical and technical knowledge in rehabilitation therapies, an understanding of the trends and impacts of the changing health care environment, ability to work with the medical staff and other referrers, excellent supervisory skills, and a basic working knowledge of budgetary matters. The demands to deliver quality services and to produce measurable outcomes must be balanced with the need to operate in a productive and cost-effective manner, and the Supervisor must ensure that the division functions within regulatory and reimbursement guidelines. Positions reporting to this title may include but not limited to Therapists, Office Assistants, Department Techs and Aides.
Major Challenges:
Key to the success of this position is the Supervisor's leadership directing a programmatic model of care. Freedom to Act: This position has the accountability and authority to make decisions regarding the organization, utilization, and coordination of staff assigned to the Subacute Rehabilitation Program. This includes hiring, appraising, disciplining, and making effective recommendations for the termination of personnel who report to this position. Decisions are submitted to the Manager regarding program staff replacements, additions, or reclassifications. The incumbent provides input into the preparation of the program budget, and is responsible for implementing and monitoring systems that will ensure successful financial performance. The position provides input regarding the development of the capital equipment budget, as well as the development of policies and procedures and program changes.
Job Details:
- Developing and maintaining core competencies and behavioral skill sets that support exceptional patient and co-worker experiences, consistent with CHW core values.
- Provide input into preparation of Program budget. Implement budget and ensure Program operate within budget. Insure Program is within the FTE (productive) budget. Provide input regarding capital equipment budget.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain Program compliance with accreditation, certification, licensure, government, and other regulatory requirements. Facilitate quality improvement teams for Rehabilitation Services on and off campus. Implement policies and procedures which promote CQI. Oversee the QAI process for the Program.
- Provide direct patient care in a professional, compassionate, and timely manner.
- Maintain effective communication and provide for positive physician/referrer relations and problem resolutions.
- Stay abreast of trends in physical, occupational, and speech therapies and assist in identifying and projecting present and future Program needs. Develop new programs or make program changes as appropriate to ensure quality and competitiveness in community. Implement systems to successfully meet contract requirements.
- Facilitate the development of cross-functional, interdisciplinary, and patient-focused teams. Provide effective orientation, training, education, and development of staff so that services are delivered to the satisfaction of patients, physicians, and referrers. Responsible for direction, evaluation, and supervision of Program staff.
- Establish and maintain effective communication systems for Program operation. Actively participate on Rehabilitation Management Team to achieve goals and fulfill mission of CHW and Regional Rehabilitation Services. Participate in projects and committees as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- 3 years of experience as a staff therapist, some experience in specified level of care.
- Bachelor degree.
Licensure:
One of the following:
- Physical Therapist License
- Occupational Therapist License
- Speech Language Pathologist License
Preferred:
- 1 years of experience as supervisor in Rehab preferred.
