Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Occupational Therapist, you will help pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients receive comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and treatment so they can regain function, achieve their therapeutic goals, and improve their quality of life.
Every day you will provide patient assessment, develop and implement individual patient treatment programs, and utilize current and effective therapeutic methodologies. You will be expected to maintain effective documentation, ensure evaluations are completed according to department protocol, and educate patients and families on treatment techniques and safety.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate competency in occupational therapy across the lifespan, be proficient in documentation, and effectively delegate to and supervise support staff and students.
- Complete patient evaluations within 48 hours according to department protocol, setting appropriate goals with patient/family participation.
- Implement effective and adequate treatment following department guidelines, continuously assessing and modifying treatment plans while ensuring patient safety.
- Provide timely and comprehensive patient/family education on all aspects of care, using appropriate teaching methods and documenting performance.
- Comply with department policy regarding documentation, ensuring timely, concise, legible, and accurate records that reflect interventions and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Appropriately communicate treatment plans and patient status with the team and MD, participating in team conferences and addressing payor guidelines/authorization as needed.
- Delegate to and supervise support staff and students within licensure and practice standards, providing appropriate clinical supervision and feedback.
Required
- Current license as an Occupational Therapist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
Preferred
- Previous experience as an Occupational Therapist.
