Built-in 1973 Dignity Health Methodist Hospital of Sacramento is committed to providing daily excellence in health care for residents of Sacramento’s southern suburbs including the Elk Grove Wilton and Galt communities. Methodist Hospital is home to a 158 acute-care bed facility with 1120 employees 283 medical staff and 29 Emergency Department beds. Methodist Hospital also owns and operates Bruceville Terrace – a 171-bed sub-acute skilled nursing long-term care facility adjacent to the hospital that provides care for the elderly as well as those requiring extended recoveries. Methodist Hospital is home to the Family Medicine Residency Program an accredited and nationally recognized program which provides resident physicians with specialty training in primary care family medicine. Together the hospital and residency program implemented a ground-breaking curriculum addressing the identification treatment and assistance of human trafficking victims and created a one-of-a-kind health clinic for victims the Human Trafficking Medical Home.


Responsibilities

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of orientation period that includes demonstrating skills and behaviors that meet a fully competent level of performance. The LVN maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment, and performs patient care services that support the physician/provider's practice under the clinical supervision of the Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other licensed staff. This includes assisting in prepping patients for examinations or procedures, assisting with procedures, relaying instructions from the physician to a patient or authorized person, and collecting patient data. Documenting patient concerns, patient messages, and care provided to the patient in the patient's medical record for the physician's review. Administrating medications specifically directed by the physician and performing accurate vital sign measurements and documentation. Providing leadership to support staff. This position may have access to third party credit card information and transactional systems (cash registers, point of sale devices, applications supporting credit card transactions, and reports or other

documents containing credit card information) from single transactions or a single card at a time.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Three (3) years experience in an outpatient setting as a Licensed Vocational Nurse is required for this position.
  • Current CA LVN license
  • Current BLSHigh School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Licensed Vocational Nurse program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Licensed
  • Vocational Nurse program (Determination made by Dignity Health Mercy Family Health Center Human Resources Department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills are essential.
  • Medical terminology, familiarity with CPT and ICD-9 coding procedures and reference tools, and pharmacology appropriate to the Licensed Vocational Nurse scope
