Nestled in the heart of East Sacramento Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital is a 313 bed acute care facility that provides a wide range of services with special advocacy for the poor and underserved. Mercy General is home to the nationally ranked Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Institute. Key achievements and recognitions include: from the Joint Commission; Advanced Joint Replacement Spine Center of Excellence Primary Stroke Center Ventricular Assist Device and Chest Pain Certification. Other accolades include CMS 5 stars Practice Green Health 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade A Level 4 Epilepsy Center and Opioid Stewardship Honor Roll. Responsibilities

$15,000 Sign-on bonus available for experienced RN, current employees are not eligible. 

Position Summary:

 Here at Mercy General Hospital our roots grow deep. We have been bringing new lives into this great city for over 100 years. We take pride in providing very personalized care for our families while utilizing evidence based practice to give them a high quality and safe birthing experience. The Family Birth Center offers our delivering patient’s a boutique like experience. We individualize our care from natural birth to well supported and medicated birth. Mercy General is a Baby Friendly Designated Hospital. Our labor nurses all have advanced fetal monitoring ACLS and NRP. There is a 24 hour in house obstetrician and dedicated anesthesia support Maternal Fetal Medicine support Neonatology on call an RN/RT team that attends every birth and daily lactation consultation for our new moms. We are afforded the autonomy to be creative and utilize our critical thinking skills to give our patients the best experience on their special day. The comradery of our staff is hard to beat. Our doctors nurses techs clerks administrators and ancillary support staff collaborate with and care for each other in the way a big family would. Many of our staff have received the Daisy Award and Employee of the month and year. Our Mission is to provide the most comprehensive and advanced patient care in a compassionate environment respecting the whole individual. The combined years of experience on our birthing unit is 859 years with an average of 17 years of tenure. One fifth of our staff has been here more than 20 years. Our budding new nurses are well supported and nurtured for success.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One (1) Experience as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery/Post Partum/ Newborn Nursery. Fetal monitoring experience required for L&D/antepartum positions.
  • C/Section Experience is preferred. 
  • Curent CA RN License
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association. 
  • NRP certification required within 6 months of hire. 
  • Other certifications may be required.  

Preferred:

  • C Section experience.
