Decedent Affairs Coordinator
The posted compensation range of $34.44 - $49.94 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
Coordinates the activities related to the morgue and decedent affairs
1. Manages the activities of patient deaths from time of death to release of remains from market morgues and/or offsite morgue storage. This includes management of complex and sensitive cases of demise as well as coordination of workflows related to fetal demises and perinatal losses
2. Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, police, County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, County Clerk- Recorder’s Office, Pathology Department, risk management, etc. to ensure timely disposition with the least liability to the hospital(s)
3. Next of Kin Determination; Family Determination and Support: Reviews death cases and provides pertinent and clear information to the family of the deceased and provides consultation regarding autopsy, disposition, and social services when appropriate
4. Performs EDRS/ FDRS entry of death certificate records, ensuring accurate and timely completion. Works with
provider teams to complete physician attestations
Qualifications
Required:
- Four years related work in social work or pathology/funeral home/mortuary/healthcare decedent care experience
- Bachelor degree in biological science or social work
Preferred:
- Licensed Medical Social Worker – State Licensure preferred
