The posted compensation range of $66.98 - $77.62 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Clinical Lab Scientist, you will be a critical diagnostic expert, performing complex laboratory tests to ensure accurate, timely results vital for patient diagnosis and treatment.
Every day, you will execute a wide range of analytical procedures across various lab disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.). You'll analyze specimens, operate/maintain instruments, interpret results, and conduct quality control, providing crucial data for clinical decisions.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a strong scientific foundation, advanced technical proficiency, exceptional problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail. Your paramount commitment will be to accuracy and regulatory adherence.
- Demonstrates competency in age-specific patient testing for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Properly identifies patient, sample, and/or result and maintains sample integrity throughout the analytical and reporting process.
- Performs technical procedures accurately, correlating technical data and evaluating results for reasonableness, and maintaining required documentation.
- Accurately reports results via computer entry or recording manually. Assures that authentication parameters have been met prior to allowing the auto release of results via the LIS.
- Makes appropriate workflow decisions considering clinical needs, test priority, and response to expedited requests. Performs centrifugation and specimen preparation as needed for appropriate specimen workflow.
- Performs and monitors quality control for tests and test systems, at beginning and throughout shift, as required by procedure. Recognizes shifts and trends and applies industry accepted, quality control rules to assure accuracy in test results.
Records date of receipt, expiration date, lot number, date put into use, and identification of reagent/supplies, as required.
Required
- Bachelors Other in biological science, or US military equivalent.
- 1 year Clinical laboratory scientist.
- Internship in a hospital clinical laboratory.
