Mercy Imaging Centers a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation provides cutting-edge diagnostic imaging services at 16 locations in the greater Sacramento and Woodland areas. Our team of 160 staff members work with our specialty trained and board certified radiologists to provide high quality care to our patients. The locations perform more than 175000 exams annually with the goal of providing top quality imaging compassionate care and timely service with a smile.
Responsibilities
The Ultrasound Technologist position is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and for satisfactorily completing the Dignity Health Medical Foundation orientation period that includes demonstrating skills and behaviors that meet a fully competent level of performance.
Ultrasound Technologists maintain a clean organized and safe environment and performs patient care services under the supervision of the radiologists Chief Tech and management. This includes assisting in prepping patients for examinations x-rays and procedures relaying instructions from the radiologist or physician to a patient or authorized person and collecting patient data documenting patient concerns patient messages and care provided to the patient in the patients medical record for the radiologist and physicians review and performing diagnostic medical sonograms.
May be required to occasionally work at other locations within the Greater Sacramento Area as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Completion of accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program.
- ARDMS
- AHA BLS
- Skills:
1.Ability to properly position patients to provide quality imaging.
2.Ability to troubleshoot equipment operation and perform simple adjustments.
3.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients medical staff management and peers.
4.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people.
5.Excellent telephone skills.
6.Passion for excellence in the care of patients and provision of timely and quality service.
7.Basic computer skills.
- Other Requirements and responsibilities:
1.Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area of imaging.
2.Knowledge of ultrasound equipment and testing.
3.Knowledge of safety hazards common to sonography including equipment body mechanics and patient movement.
4.Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively and cope effectively in a fast paced environment.
5.Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
6.Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person by telephone and in writing.
7.Requires adherence to all policies and procedures including standards for safety attendance punctuality and personal appearance.
8.Maintain current CPR. Maintains continual Educational Units.
9.Maintain accurate records as directed.
10.Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
11.Work as a team member within DI and all other departments.
12.Document work processes as required.
13.Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of Ultrasonography experience preferred.
