Responsibilities

This position is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures and/or NIV testing at a technical level not requiring constant supervision under the general direction of a radiologist and radiology administration.

 In accordance with the mission and philosophy of Catholic Healthcare West the Sonographer is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for performing diagnostic testing used in the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of care for patients.

Must have completed a formal Sonography course or have completed four years of progressively responsible experience in an ultrasound department (such experience must have been within the last five years).

 This position requires graduation from high school or its equivalent. Completion of annual safety training. 

Completes and maintains required unit specific training. Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonographers (RDMS) or RDCS or RVT in at least one field of specialization (i.e. Echocardiography/Doppler Abdominal or OB/Gyn) or eligibility for certification and must achieve certification within one year of eligibility. 

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.


Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Must have completed a formal Sonography course or have completed four years of progressively responsible experience in an ultrasound department (such experience must have been within the last five years). 
  • Must have completed a formal Sonography course or have completed four years of progressively responsible experience in an ultrasound department (such experience must have been within the last five years). 
  • Completion of annual safety training.
  • Completes and maintains required unit specific training. 
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonographers (RDMS) or RDCS or RVT in at least one field of specialization (i.e. Echocardiography/Doppler Abdominal or OB/Gyn) or eligibility for certification and must achieve certification within one year of eligibility. 
  • (CT ARDMS) Current Basic Life Support for healthcare providers required. (CT CPRBLS)
