Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Sr. OB Scrub Tech II, you will be a professional caregiver, working under the direction of an RN, in accordance with our mission and philosophy.

Every day, you will provide direct patient care, acting as a scrub technician for OB surgical procedures. You will oversee the orientation of OB Scrub Technicians, also assessing their initial, annual competency. You will assume responsibility, accountability for organizing, maintaining supplies and charges to ensure an efficient work environment. Furthermore, you will comply with all applicable laws, rules, organizational Standards of Conduct, policies, procedures applicable to your job responsibilities. You will assist in risk evaluation, actively working with facility/entity leaders to implement, monitor, mitigate risk corrective plans.

To be successful in this role, you will possess certification as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent experience, with extensive specialized experience in obstetric surgical procedures. You will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency in sterile technique, surgical assisting, and patient care. Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to oversee orientation, assess competency, coupled with a meticulous approach to supply management, regulatory compliance will be essential in facilitating safe, efficient OB surgical care.

  • Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate. Screens visitors to ensure Infant Security.
  • Answers telephones using name and department. Screens calls appropriately and refers callers to the correct staff member, patient, department, and/or resource in a timely manner. Makes every attempt to answer phones within three rings. Monitors time individuals may be on hold and reassures them that their calls have not been forgotten. Takes clear, accurate, concise phone messages. Consistently available to answer phones. Seeks coverage when away from the work area.
  • Relays messages in a timely manner, opens and delivers mail as appropriate.
  • Maintains a neat and organized work environment.
  • Provides clerical support within the department. Transcribes physician's orders and enters them into the computer for implementation and ancillary department follow through.
  • Schedules/arranges diagnostic tests/procedures as ordered and informs the staff of required preparation as appropriate.
Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate General Studies and Three (3) years acute care hospital experience as an Obstetrical Technician, upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies and Three (3) years acute care hospital experience as an Obstetrical Technician, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
