Job Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

  • The Education Coordinator performs and provides coordination for department functions and processes to ensure regulatory compliance in issues of orientation, safety, staff development, and patient/family education. 

  • In coordination with the Clinical Nurse Educators, Department Managers and the Director, the Education Coordinator implements educational programs, equipment training, and clinical outcomes evaluation; creates and maintains organizational systems that support the department in those areas.

  • Adult learning principles will be utilized to appropriately match the educational and professional needs and requirements of the staff in providing necessary and complementary educational programs.

  • The position is responsible for collaborating with the Clinical Educators to provide staff development in a dynamic manner to meet needs for professional growth and development.

  • The position is aligned with community education resource networks and provides support to programs designed for the education of patients and their families across the lifespan.

  • Incumbents in this position shall comply with all applicable laws and rules including the Dignity Health Standards of Conduct and Dignity Health policies and procedures that apply to his/her job responsibilities, seek guidance when in doubt, promptly report any potential or suspected violation of Dignity Health Standards of Conduct, Dignity Health policy or procedure or applicable laws/regulations and when requested, assist Dignity Health personnel in investigating all allegations of violation.

  • When called upon, the incumbent shall assist in risk evaluation and work collaboratively with facility/entity leaders to implement, monitor and mitigate risk corrective plans outlined by the Compliance program.

Job Requirements

Minimum:

  • High School Graduate or GED upon hire

Preferred:

  • Bachelors Health Education or Health related field

  • Two (2) years recent related experience in hospital or health related field

  • Experience in adult education
