Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a CS Equipment Tech, you will be a central figure responsible for the meticulous inspection, testing, maintenance, and distribution of specialized medical equipment, ensuring its optimal functionality, safety, and readiness for patient care. You will play a vital role in supporting clinical operations by providing reliable and properly functioning devices.

Every day, you will expertly decontaminate, clean, and meticulously test a wide array of medical equipment, identifying and troubleshooting malfunctions, and performing preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines and established protocols. You will also manage equipment inventory, track usage, facilitate repairs, and collaborate with clinical departments to ensure timely delivery and proper utilization of all devices, strictly adhering to infection control and safety standards.

To be successful in this role, you will combine a strong mechanical and technical aptitude, a meticulous attention to detail in equipment handling and inspection, and a keen understanding of medical device functionalities and safety. You will demonstrate a proactive approach to troubleshooting and maintenance, possess excellent organizational skills, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of equipment readiness and patient safety.

  • Assembles, sterilizes, and dispenses equipment, and instrument trays to surgical rooms throughout the O.R. and all other nursing areas
  • Assembles supplies, packs, instruments, etc., and places on Surgical Case Carts to be sent to surgery for all surgical procedures
  • Inspects, assembles, packages, sterilizes Surgical instruments and equipment for operating room areas, in accordance with written procedures
  • Receives soiled instruments, equipment, utensils, etc., from areas throughout the hospital for cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilizing to ensure safety of patients and hospital personnel from infection and cross contamination in accordance with the written procedures
  • Assists surgery personnel with tray contents and design
  • Locates and delivers instrumentation upon request of surgery personnel in an immediate fashion
Job Requirements

Required

  • Two years prior Central Sterile experience and
  • may waive based on a combination of education/training and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and

Preferred

  • Central Sterile experience in an acute care hospital
  • Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire or
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor, upon hire or
  • Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech, upon hire
