Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Clinical Oncology Pharmacist, you will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services within our outpatient infusion centers. The role demands advanced clinical support for a wide range of oncology therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and bio/biosimilar drugs. Key responsibilities include reviewing, verifying, and adjusting treatments, monitoring patient outcomes, and collaborating extensively with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

The successful candidate will also be involved in developing and implementing treatment guidelines, managing formularies, and leading novel oncology initiatives. They will provide medication order review, symptom management, and critical education to providers, patients, and caregivers. Furthermore, the role involves active participation in quality improvement, medication safety, and waste reduction efforts. Compliance with regulatory standards, supporting prior authorizations, and precepting students and residents are also crucial aspects. The Pharmacist will offer clinical oversight to pharmacy personnel within the infusion centers, demonstrating strong leadership and judgment in all activities.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor Of Pharmacy

  • Clear and current CA Pharmacist License
  • Clear and current BLS through American Heart Association
  • Current knowledge of evidence based clinical pharmacy practice and pharmacotherapies; Knowledge of Health Plans such as Medicare, Medical, Blue Shields, Blue Cross, HNET, AETNA, WHA, etc.; Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to all age groups of patients served. Ability to become fully credentialed with the Dignity Health Medical Foundation and be able to obtain a California Advanced Practice (APh) license within the established time frame.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PGY1 residency preferred.
  • PGY2 Oncology residency strongly preferred.
  • Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) strongly preferred.
  • Experience precepting pharmacy students and/or residents strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in oncology pharmacotherapy and clinical decision-making preferred.
  • Membership in a professional organization preferred.
  • Clear and current ACLS through American Heart Association preferred.
  • Clinical knowledge of specialty pharmacy; innovative pharmacy practice; pharmacoeconomics; regulations applicable to Pharmacy, including DEA, Board of Pharmacy, The Joint Commission, etc preferred.

  • Current Vaccination certification preferred.
