Surgery Procedure Coordinator
The posted compensation range of $19.01 - $24.24 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
Uses outstanding customer service skills to schedule surgical procedures, perform pre-admission patient consultations and insurance authorizations. Utilizes software applications, and/or other supporting systems or documentation to ensure scheduling accuracy and expediency. Provides front office support for the practice.
- Schedules all surgeries and/or procedures for patient admissions/appointments maximizing allocated spaces.
- Works in conjunction with physician and/or staff to prioritize admissions/appointments and maximize allocated space based on medical needs.
- Validates and captures primary, secondary and tertiary insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing.
Identifies patients in need of financial counseling to ensure appropriate payment of services. - Identifies services not covered by the insurance plan or requiring prior authorization; informing patients of
courses of action as appropriate.
Qualifications
Minimum
One year prior front office or clerical experience.
High School Diploma/GED.
Basic Computer skills, Google-based programs.
Ability to organize work so that productivity and effectiveness are maximized.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast- paced environment.
Preferred
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred; Cerner strongly preferred.
One year surgical scheduling experience.
