The posted compensation range of $18.00 - $24.41 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Department Assistant, you will coordinate and complete patient access, clerical, reception, and basic ADL duties within the department. Your role is vital for efficient daily operations and positive patient experience.
Every day you will manage patient rescheduling and appointment confirmations, meticulously handle inventory, and assist with infusion clinic restocking. You will be expected to perform various administrative tasks to support department functioning.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach. Your ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively is crucial.
- Greets patients and their families, visitors and other hospital/medical staff in a kind, courteous manner, utilizing the principles of IDEA. Provides assistance with seminars being held in the building. Keeps lobby and public areas organized and professional in appearance.
- Assumes primary responsibility for phone communication activities. Manages multiple phone lines, maintaining a positive, cheerful demeanor.
- Demonstrates a positive, courteous, caring attitude during all encounters with patients and their family members.
- Responds expeditiously to patient or physician complaints, demonstrating an ability to resolve issues independently, with a positive outcome. Escalates issues to supervisor as appropriate.
- Pre-Registers all patients in all programs efficiently and accurately.
- Performs registration, scheduling and intake of new outpatients. Schedules new patient appointments accurately, and in an appropriate manner as per scheduling guidelines. Adds occurrence codes with an accuracy rate of less than or equal to 2 per week.
Required
- High School Graduate or GED
- One (1) year of secretarial experience
Preferred
- Secretarial experience in a healthcare setting
- Insurance authorization and insurance benefit verification experience
- Accounts Receivable experience in a healthcare business setting
- Patient scheduling experience
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR)experience and Cerner
