The posted compensation range of $35.28 - $51.16 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Reporting to and working in collaboration with CommonSpirit Health (CSH) Revenue Integrity (RI) leadership, this position is responsible for directly managing the day to day charge description master (CDM) activities. This position will require collaboration and consistent communication with system CSH Revenue Cycle leadership as well as local clinical departments, Revenue Integrity teams and Optum/Conifer partners.
The role supports CSH RI leadership in the oversight of CDM activities including governance, strategy and pricing for the enterprise with the goal to enhance effectiveness of patient net revenue realization and minimize revenue leakage across the system. This involves complete capture of patient revenue in every area that generates charges, management in relation to compliant CDM constructs, ensuring clean handoffs between Revenue Cycle, RI and clinical departments, Strategic Pricing, denials management, and clinical operations relations.
Responsibilities
The System Supervisor of charge description master (CDM) will:
- Supervise teams that support the CDM work to promote its accuracy and integrity across revenue- generating departments of the organization
- Supports the System Charge Master Manager in maintenance and enhancement of the charge description master activities via CDM tools
- Supports various CommonSpirit Health Revenue Capture initiatives
- Consults with various stakeholders to help develop and implement policies and procedures for the purposes of having compliant and optimized chargemaster line items
- Identifies opportunities for charge description master improvement by implementing and analyzing the results of routine, random audits
- Supports the manager in developing tools for the purposes of tracking and identifying potential areas of lost revenue
- Oversees charge description master staff regarding the appropriate creation of CDM line items based on regulatory and billing guidelines.
- Reviews changes in CPT codes, HCPCS codes and revenue codes for accuracy and compliance with all applicable policies published by Federal, State and Commercial Insurance payers.
- Supports IT and System Charge Master Manager related to routine maintenance with the CDM tool including new software releases/upgrades, merging updated CDM files, etc.
- Assists with the development of programs, initiatives, and workflows, which provide alignment with education for internal customers to support CDM maintenance guidelines
- Ensures staff members are knowledgeable about revenue assurance needs and reimbursement issues identified through audits, reviews and aggregate data analysis
- Maintains knowledge of and adherence to code of conduct standards, confidentiality agreements, and the organization-wide mission statement
- Review and analysis of all CDM operations and financial reports
- Ensure best practice “operations and process flows” are being adhered to and recommend changes as necessary
- Alert System Revenue Integrity leadership to any issues or potential issues as it pertains to performance from Optum 360/Conifer
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience with charge description master work
- 2 years Leadership experience for charge description master activities
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Advanced degree such as MBA, MHA, or MPH
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered, Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Professional (CPC) or Certification in Healthcare Revenue Integrity (CHRI)
