Job Summary and Responsibilities
St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center’s Endoscopy Unit is committed to the highest level of patient satisfaction. The unit features the most up-to-date endoscopic technologies, and we provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients of all ages. Our GI and pulmonary lab with four endoscopy suites and a Heartburn Center provide our patients with a full spectrum of services.
As our Sr. Endoscopy Tech, you will play a critical role in facilitating complex endoscopic procedures, ensuring optimal patient care and operational efficiency within the endoscopy unit. Every day you will meticulously prepare and maintain specialized endoscopic equipment, expertly assisting physicians during a wide range of procedures.
To succeed, you'll need exceptional technical proficiency with endoscopic equipment, strong critical thinking for anticipating procedural needs and handling emergencies, excellent communication for seamless team collaboration and patient interaction, and a profound commitment to patient safety, sterile technique, and advancing best practices in gastroenterology.
Responsibilities:
- Assists nursing staff in providing patient care, assists in meeting patient and family education needs and maintains continuity of care by processing patient records accurately and promptly from admission to discharge.
- Communicates regularly with the Clinical Supervisor and other supervisory personnel about technical issues in the Endoscopy Unit. Relays verbal and written information in a timely manner.
- Serves as a role model to technical staff.
- Serves as a resource to the Endoscopy staff members.
- Oversees delegation of responsibilities to Endoscopy Technicians as appropriate.
- Acts as a preceptor to new technical staff.

Job RequirementsRequired:
- High School Graduate General Studies and Minimum of two-years experience in the Endoscopy setting as an EndoscopyTechnician., upon hire or
- High School GED General Studies and Minimum of two-years experience in the Endoscopy setting as an EndoscopyTechnician., upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
Preferred:
- Technician, or comparable experience.
