Laboratory-based research and patient-oriented clinical studies have international stature and often involve extensive collaborations with academic and industry partners regionally nationally and globally. JOIN US NOW as we are seeking a RESEARCH TECHNICIAN to perform complex and novel procedures as a laboratory professional with a great degree of independence under the general supervision of a Principal Investigator (PI). Uses proven or develops as needed new scientific method(s) for new and routine experiments. Provides guidance to all personnel working in the laboratory. Maintains expertise on all matters concerning assigned laboratory personnel equipment and procedures.
A Research Technician II position is available starting from April 2025 for a highly motivated candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Mohanakumar PhD. at the Norton Thoracic Institute in Phoenix Arizona. Dr. Mohanakumar is the director of the Norton Thoracic Institute Research Laboratory and his research focuses on the immunological mechanisms of graft injury and rejection after solid organ transplant. By working with pre-clinical models and human biological samples the candidate will be involved in translational research exploring the contribution of small extracellular vesicles and cellular immunity to clinical outcomes in solid organ transplants. The Mohanakumar laboratory seeks to advance knowledge in the field of transplant immunology with the final goal of improving recipients; quality of life and survival.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
● Processing storage and organization of human and pre-clinical biological samples.
● Assist with research studies experiments and assays including data collection solution preparation and equipment set-up and maintenance.
● Perform data entry and maintain data files on research.
● Prepare tissue cultures reagents probe tests (etc.).
● Comply with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
● Ensure lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
● Miscellaneous duties including but not limited to assisting with general lab maintenance and cleaning coordinating equipment repairs ordering and shipping.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential biological and chemical hazards exposure.
Therefore the candidate must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research preclinical models.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Two (2) years prior experience in a research clinical or other scientific environment required.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Familiar with laboratory techniques.
Working knowledge of the scientific method.
Familiar with basic computer skills required.
Preferred:
Four (4) years of prior experience in a research clinical or other scientific environment preferred.
MS Degree preferred.
Demonstrates an ability to continually improve performance preferred.
Familiar with laboratory techniques and basic computer skills preferred
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with basic molecular biology techniques and flow cytometry.
● Excellent basic laboratory organizational and record-keeping skills.
● Familiarity with clinical databases and electronic medical record systems
● Ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators
● Performs laboratory administrative functions such as scheduling common equipment purchasing/maintaining contracts on equipment and procedures for record-keeping systems.
