Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Research Engineer, you will contribute to diverse research projects under senior guidance, applying engineering principles to facilitate scientific discovery and experimental progress.
Every day you will develop and implement technical solutions for research challenges, including designing instrumentation, automating data collection, and refining methodologies. You will also support specialized research equipment.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate foundational engineering skills, strong problem-solving aptitude, and a proactive approach to new technologies. Your ability to translate research needs into solutions and collaborate effectively is key.
- Maintains supply inventory, organization and other records, and remains within known fiscal limits when budgeting and forecasting for supplies, preventing delays due to inadequate supplies.
- Maintains quality control of all equipment utilized in his/her research area by initiating routine service checks, preventive maintenance, and calibrating in accordance with equipment manuals, ensuring all equipment is performing to standard and training new personnel on equipment use.
- Creates, maintains, and updates lab's internal procedure manuals.
- Maintains relationships with vendors to ensure up-to-date knowledge of outsourcing options; finds outsourcing options for engineered equipment to minimize cost and man-hours. Keeps accurate records of research results and efforts and presents findings in regular lab meetings.
- Participates in continuing education such as searching and reading literature, attending presentations, and attending national conferences. Keeps accurate log of work and presents plans in regular lab meetings.
Job Requirements
Required
- Bachelors degree and experience in biomedical engineering correlated field, upon hire Preferred
- Two (2) years experience in electrical, biomedical, or mechanical engineering; advanced mathematics or physics; statistics; or related field
