Responsibilities
Barrow Neurological Institute is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist with specialized experience in radiosurgery modalities and head and neck cancer treatments. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge advancements in the treatment of neurological disorders and head/neck cancers. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the complexities associated with both radiosurgery and head/neck oncology, coupled with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Radiation Treatment Simulation and Delivery:
- Administer advanced radiation therapy treatments, specializing in radiosurgery techniques for neurological conditions and head/neck cancer treatments.
- Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, medical oncologists, and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Implement and monitor treatment protocols for head and neck cancer patients, ensuring precision and adherence to established standards.
- Patient Care and Education:
- Provide compassionate and patient-centered care, addressing the unique needs and concerns of individuals undergoing radiosurgery and head/neck cancer treatments.
- Educate patients and their families on the treatment process, potential side effects, and necessary precautions.
- Technical Expertise:
- Operate and maintain advanced radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, gamma knife systems, and specialized head and neck treatment devices.
- Monitor and adjust treatment parameters as needed, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of each session.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in radiosurgery and head/neck cancer treatment modalities.
- Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Teamwork:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Participate in tumor board meetings and treatment planning sessions to contribute expertise and insights related to radiosurgery and head/neck oncology.
- Quality Assurance:
- Implement and adhere to quality assurance protocols to ensure the safety and efficacy of treatment delivery.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Promote a safe and continuous learning environment that focuses on delivering excellent patient-centered care.

Qualifications
MINIMUM
- Certificate in Radiation Therapy and Associates of Applied Science in Radiography
- Minimum 36 months experience as a radiation therapist in a radiation oncology clinic
- Successful completion of an accredited education program in radiation therapy.
- Registered as a Radiation Therapist, RT(T), by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (CT ARRT)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CT PRBLS)
- Licensed as a Certified Therapy Technologist (CTT) by the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Special Licensing (LIC CTT).
- Advanced computer skills
PREFERRED
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years of experience as a radiation therapist with increased responsibilities in a radiation oncology facility preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and/or stereotactic radiosurgery is preferred.
