Internship Opportunity: This internship is a perfect opportunity for an undergrad student interested in both legal contract work and healthcare administration. You’ll help the Payer Strategy and Analytics team by reviewing and comparing healthcare contract terms, and documenting proposed changes. If you enjoy organizing information, paying attention to detail, and working with contract language, this role will be a great fit. No prior contract experience is required, though a basic understanding of contract terms is helpful.
What you’ll do:
Review contracts: Help compare current contract language with proposed changes and summarize what’s different.
Document changes: Create a redline summary document that shows the changes between contract versions.
Track changes: Assist in organizing and tracking proposed changes to help everyone clearly understand the updates.
Analyze agreements: Help collect data from different healthcare agreements to track participation details, like which plans are involved in each agreement.
Research financial data: Assist in summarizing financial performance data, including membership and product changes for Blue Shield of California over the past few years.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the review of new contract terms, specifically comparing the current agreement language to the proposed agreement language.
- Documents the change from the current contract terms to the proposed in a redline review of all changes.
- Coordinates the tracking of all proposed changes into a comprehensive language tool supporting a full understanding of all contract language provision changes.
- Identify, collect, and summarize product specific participation data from a wide variety of agreements into a comprehensive dashboard summarizing plan specific participation by plan relationship.
- Identify, collect, and summarize product specific termination dates across the entire Blue Shield of California relationship, including value based agreements.
- Research and summarize Blue Shield of California’s financial performance data over the last three fiscal years, including membership and product changes year over year.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
Sophomore or Junior with a basic understanding of contractual framework and an interest in legal/language in terms of agreements.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
Knowledge of and/or experience with contractual agreements.
Exposure to project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Expertise with Excel and Word, Google Suite and/or similar applications.
