Job Summary and Responsibilities
Are you a compassionate communicator with a knack for putting people at ease? We're looking for a Patient Liaison to join our surgical team and be the bridge of comfort and clarity for families during a critical time. In this vital role, you'll ensure that families receive timely, accurate, and empathetic updates throughout their loved one's surgical journey, from pre-op to recovery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, providing empathetic and clear updates directly from the medical team in pre-op, the operating room, and recovery.
- Create a supportive and well-organized environment for waiting families, ensuring their comfort and peace of mind.
- Warmly greet families in the Pre-Operative Center (POC) and guide them efficiently to their designated waiting areas.
- Liaise effectively with waiting room volunteers, providing essential updates and ensuring a coordinated approach to family support.
- Actively engage with physicians and OR staff to gather critical information, including surgical start times, hourly progress updates (for procedures over 2 hours), case completion, and patient arrival in the Recovery Room.
- Orchestrate smooth post-operative communication by coordinating direct surgeon-family consultations, escorting families to designated consultation rooms as directed by the surgeon.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
- High School GED General Studies and Six months previous experience withpatient, family, physician interaction., upon hire
