Responsibilities
Our twelve-room OR suite maintains a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, which enables us to form close relationships with patients and their families during very difficult times. We also feature a 44-bay multi-level PACU with staff dedicated to trauma and other emergency cases. Our PACU features a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio. Throughout the unit we are committed to using the latest technology, affording staff the opportunity to constantly learn and enhance their skills. As a Level I Trauma Center, we are operational 24/7.
Our Lead Surgical Scrub Technician will be responsible for assessing, planning, anticipating, administering and evaluating the needs of the surgeon. Primary functions involve energetically and dynamically supporting the staff and physicians in acquiring the necessary equipment and training to deliver evidence based surgical interventions. Interacts in a timely manner with vendors to secure necessary equipment and products as driven by the daily schedule. Communicates directly with surgeons to coordinate preference cards and the introduction of new products. Coordinates with the Business Specialist Nurse Manager and Director in the investigation and recommendation of capital equipment. Serves as a resource to staff and leadership on current practice issues.
Responsibilities:
- Scrubs procedures assessing, planning, anticipating, administering and evaluating the needs of the surgeon for each
assigned procedure, according to age or patient. - Coordinates in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and Director of Surgical Services orientation of all new Surgery
Staff. - Serves as a resource with a high level of knowledge and competence in the assigned area of surgical specialty. Maintains
annual CME in area of specialty. - Assures that necessary supplies and equipment are available for scheduled cases.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- Three years of experience as a Scrub Tech
- High School graduate or GED
- American Heart Association BLS
Preferred:
- Three years of current operating room experience in specialty
- Membership in AST encouraged
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience; Cerner strongly preferred
