Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Cook, you will be a culinary expert, dedicated to preparing high-quality, nutritious, and appealing meals for our residents, staff, and visitors within our Assisted Living facility. You will be integral to maintaining exceptional food safety standards and adhering to specialized dietary requirements, directly enhancing the well-being and satisfaction of our community. 

Every day you will meticulously prepare and serve a variety of dishes according to menu and dietary guidelines, ensuring modifications for food allergies and specific therapeutic diets. You will expertly operate a range of kitchen equipment (slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, grills, etc.),

To be successful in this role, you will have a High School Graduate or GED qualification. You must possess a current AZ Food Handler Permit (AZ FHP) upon hire and obtain Servsafe Certification within 30 days of hire. One (1) year of Food Service experience and/or prior Cooking experience are required/preferred. 

  • Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements, using required kitchen utensils and equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills
  • Modifies preparations to account for food allergies.
  • Follows healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes.
  • Avoids cross-contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements.
  • Maintains labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery.

  • One (1) year of Food Service Experience
  • Food Handler Permit Arizona
  • Servsafe Certification

Huger Mercy Living Center in Phoenix provides a state-of-the-art dementia care program within a homelike, five-acre campus, founded by Dr. Raymond Huger and operated by St. Joseph's Hospital. This assisted-living facility offers 24-hour expert care for 48 residents housed in four cottages, grouped by activity and functional level.
