Patient Registration Representative - Patient Registration

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Registration Rep to join our healthcare team. The Patient Registration Rep is responsible for accurately and efficiently registering patients for medical services obtaining necessary information and ensuring a positive patient experience. Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors and provide excellent customer service.
  • Accurately and efficiently register patients for medical services including verifying patient information and insurance coverage.
  • Obtain necessary information such as medical history medications allergies and other related information from patients and ensure that all information is entered correctly into the electronic health record
  • Assist the patient in filling out the necessary paperwork
  • Collect copays and outstanding balances at the time of service and provide patients with receipts
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the appropriate care.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department physician office setting healthcare insurance company revenue cycle vendor and/or other revenue cycle related roles.
  • Applicable education and/or training can be used to balance a lack of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department physician office setting healthcare insurance company revenue cycle vendor and/or other revenue cycle related roles preferred.

Special Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Able to perform basic mathematics for payment calculation.
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Knowledge of charity care programs as well as the various government and non-government programs preferred.

This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
