Monitor Tech - Telemetry Acute Care Unit

St. John's Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Monitor Technician to join our dynamic Acute Care team. This position requires a dedicated individual with strong clinical skills and a passion for providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring patients' cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other physiological data while assisting the nursing staff with various unit-based tasks.
Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and other physiological data from bedside monitors, identifying and escalating critical changes to the nursing staff immediately.
- Accurately document all observations, interventions, and communications related to patient monitoring.
- Assist nursing staff with patient care activities, including but not limited to:
- Vital signs monitoring and documentation
- Basic patient hygiene and comfort measures
- Specimen collection and transport
- Restocking supplies
- Assisting with patient ambulation (as appropriate)
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, following all infection control protocols.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic equipment malfunctions; escalate complex issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Participate in unit-based in-services and continuing education programs.
- Collaborate effectively with the nursing team, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalency required.
- A minimum of six (6) months of recent acute care experience as a unit clerk is preferred.
- Completion of basic arrhythmia course
- Internal basic arrhythmia and lethal arrhythmia assessment test with a score of 85% or better
- Basic EKG court certification
- Current AHA CPR certification (CT CPRBLS) required.
- Nursing background preferred.
- Previous computer and or electronic health record experience preferred.
