The posted compensation range of $24.17 - $30.39 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an Instrument Tech, you will ensure the availability, cleanliness, and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.
Every day you will meticulously clean, sterilize, assemble, and inspect surgical instruments and trays, operating sterilization equipment and maintaining accurate records.
To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a comprehensive understanding of sterilization principles, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment, ensuring all instruments are sterile and ready.
- Demonstrates proper procedures for cleaning, packaging, labeling, processing and storing of clean and sterile supplies. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Documentation, Accuracy.
- Sorts and assembles surgical instruments following lists and arranges items in appropriate instrument trays. Separates delicate and basic instruments, electrical cords, cables, and processes according to established procedures. Sorts and identifies special instruments for processing, e.g. power equipment, scopes, etc. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Equipment condition, Accuracy.
- Inspects each instrument for cleanliness, alignment and function. Checks for missing parts and straightens malleable instruments. Reports malfunctioning, missing and broken instrumentation to appropriate personnel. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Equipment condition.
- Cleans and maintains equipment essential to assuring effective sterilization: Ultrasonic machine, washer decontaminators, steam, Sterrad and Ethylene Oxide sterilizers. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Equipment condition.
- Demonstrates proper procedure for operating the steam, Sterrad and Ethylene Oxide sterilizers, washer decontaminators, and ultrasonic cleaner. Uses proper loading/unloading procedures. Measurement: Observation, Feedback.
- Upon completion of sterilization, stores product in SPD sterile area and returns processed instrumentation, instrument trays, and equipment to appropriate locations. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Accuracy.
