Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Aide to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible delivering patient charts tests and so forth to appropriate locations picks up and stores supplies and assists in maintaining a variety of noncomplex transportation related records including name of patient (or material) transported arrival and departure times problems encountered and so forth.

  • Demonstrates ability to transport patients process so that performance objectives are met. For example, transport cycle time objectives need to be established and achieved. 
  • Demonstrates ability to receive and understand transportation assignments and to fulfill the assignment in a safe and timely manner.
  • Under guidance of supervisor, maintains documentation of equipment including gurneys and wheel chairs.
  • Ability to interface with key department customers with regard to their level of satisfaction with transportation services.
  • Identifies defective equipment and promptly contacts the appropriate personnel for repair.
  • Demonstrates a general understanding of universal precautions and isolation techniques. 
  • Maintains par level of gurneys, wheelchairs, and oxygen equipment on units.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • BLS

Preferred:

  • Hospital experience working with patient transportation

Special Skills:

  • Ability to understand and follow noncomplex written and verbal instructions in order to transport patients to appropriate hospital locations.
  • Approximately three months on-the-job experience necessary in order to learn hospital department locations, and to attend required back school and lifting techniques, IV and oxygen transport, CPR, confidentiality, infection control, etc.
  • A thorough understanding of prompt patient routing and work flow between departments.
  • Basic interpersonal skills necessary in order to pleasantly communicate with patients and other hospital personnel in transporting patients and/or other materials.
  • Ability to maneuver wheelchairs, stretchers through obstacles in hallways.
  • Must be able to squat to hook up I-meds, and place foot pedals down.
  • Ability to use both hands and feet simultaneously while locking brakes and rolling equipment, etc.
  • Heavy use of gurneys and wheel chairs.
  • Moderate use of computers and related equipment.
  • Moderate use of other office equipment. 

This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
