Trauma Registrar
The posted compensation range of $18.96 - $26.78 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
This position contributes to the mission and vision of CommonSpirit Health by providing direct support to the Trauma Services and indirect support to a designated group of patients across the age continuum. Collaborates with prehospital EMS providers, outside referring facilities, the Emergency Department, and inpatient units to collect and abstract data for patients meeting trauma criteria. Provides support for planning, development and implementation of program goals and operations. Collaborates with Trauma Registrar personnel to ensure accurate and complete entry of data into a trauma database. Provides support for Trauma Services ongoing programming.
Essential Function
- Contributes to the efficiency of operations in trauma registry through collection of required elements, coding of clinical conditions, and external causes of injury.
- Reviews necessary data, provides special or ad hoc reporting to ensure capture of all injured patients meeting trauma registry criteria and those meeting criteria for specialty codes.
- Abstracts, assembles, enters, and codes clinical data into databases by using Association for the Advancement of Automotive Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) and the standardized registry criteria as defined by the National Trauma Data Bank and State regulatory agencies.
- Retrieves missing data elements from necessary sources and ensures information entered into the trauma registry database is complete and accurate.
- Responsible for the timely preparation/submission of data to State and NTBD regulatory agencies.
- Resolves routine entry issues/problems and appropriately seeks assistance from Supervisor, Managers, Coordinators and/or other identified specialists.
- Performs data quality control and validation of the registry; supports performance improvement and injury prevention needs.
- Identifies training opportunities (internal and external) within specialty, shares information as appropriate with other staff members. Seeks out programs for professional development.
- Promotes a positive environment and culture, contributes to organizational resolution, teamwork, cohesiveness, and time management.
- Keeps supervisor and appropriate department members informed of potential problems or issues relative to database programs and/or relative to clinical outcomes.
- Provides training to fellow team members in data entry, support, and information system applications.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate General Stuides upon hire and 1-3 years Experience in Medical Setting
- High School GED General Studies upon hire and 1-3 years Experience in Medical Setting and
- Experience in ICD-10 coding and data abstraction/entry upon hire
Preferred
- Associates other upon hire and Emergency Department, trauma, or surgical experience and
- 1 year trauma registry, AIS coding
