At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.


Responsibilities

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  1. Performs duties according to department and campus specific expectations as identified and assigned.
  2. Schedules procedures considering the availability of procedure room, equipment, staff and anesthesia care provider utilizing EMR scheduling software.
  3. Accurately schedules procedures, follows up on scheduling variations to optimize patient safety.
  4. Assists with surgical billing as needed.
  5. Coordinates with other departments as needed when multiple procedures are required.
  6. Handles on call duties on a rotation basis to provide scheduling coverage 24 /7 for five metro area hospitals.
  7. Manages incoming calls, depot scheduling requests, and voice messages related to scheduling department requests.
  8. Manages direct fax scheduling requests and handling of scanned documents with On Base software.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Diploma Required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Medical Terminology course or equivalent hospital experience
  • Knowledge of computers, fax machines, copy machines and telephone etiquette.
  • Detail oriented.  Ability to build effective working relationships.  Ability to maintain function/flow in spite of frequent interruptions.  Ability to maintain composure/organization under stressful, sometimes chaotic situations.  Ability to deal effectively with a variety of offices, clinics, campuses and staff.
  • Operating room experience or completion of Surgical Tech program
  • Clerical/receptionis experience or related experience in a health care field
  • Scheduling experience
