Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Oncology Social Worker you will Champion patient and family well-being through expert psychosocial support within an integrated cancer care framework. This vital role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for individuals navigating cancer treatment, providing essential resources and compassionate guidance. You'll play a pivotal part in a multidisciplinary team, directly contributing to a patient-centered healing environment and addressing the holistic needs of our oncology population across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Every day you will Perform comprehensive psychosocial assessments, deploy evidence-based clinical interventions, and meticulously coordinate referrals to critical community resources and financial assistance programs. You'll actively engage in reviewing and responding to psychosocial distress screenings, facilitate vital support groups, and educate clinical staff on the profound emotional and social impacts of cancer. Your daily contributions will involve detailed documentation, participation in quality initiatives, and fostering collaborative partnerships to ensure seamless patient care and advocacy.

To be successful in this role, you will Possess exceptional clinical skills in psychosocial assessment and intervention, coupled with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by oncology patients and their families. Your ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team, advocate for patient needs, and connect individuals with appropriate supportive services will be paramount. A strong commitment to patient advocacy, excellent communication, and a compassionate, solutions-oriented approach are essential for this impactful role, making you a key asset in our cancer care team.

Eligible for up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 in student loan reimbursement.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
  • Current social work licensure in applicable state (LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent preferred)
  • Experience in oncology, medical social work, hospice, palliative care, or behavioral health preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and counseling skills
  • Knowledge of community resources, financial assistance programs, and supportive care services
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive conversations with empathy, professionalism, and cultural humility
Where You'll Work

CHI Health treats cancer patients through the CHI Health Henry Lynch Cancer Center. One of their main priorities is to provide the utmost care for patients and their families. Their cancer center provides patients with a strong team of expert oncologists, radiation oncologists and cancer nurse navigators. Together, the patient’s medical care team will create a treatment plan specific to the patient’s cancer diagnosis.
