Responsibilities
Analyzing lab testing is pretty complex. We depend on our lab staff to help determine what is happening with our patients. They are a vital key to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Some of what you will do:
Obtain blood specimens by capillary puncture or venipuncture using appropriate technique.
Correctly identify patient and properly label specimens.
Interact with nursing units to ascertain critical priorities and verify discrepancies.
Dispose of contaminated lab supplies and handle all lab specimens according to procedures.
Receive laboratory specimens orders tests and processes specimens.
Distribute specimens to appropriate testing areas communicating special instructions.
Maintains professional attitude with patients visitors hospital staff and fellow employees while assuring the confidentiality of all hospital information.
Qualifications
What you will need:
No experience is necessary! It is preferred to have six months previous experience in phlebotomy and customer service.
Education/Licensure:
Required: High School diploma or GED.
Preferred: Phlebotomy certification or completion of a phlebotomy course.
