Responsibilities

As our Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialist, you’ll wear many hats: educator, mentor, clinician, collaborator, and visionary. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead our ambulatory care pharmacy services, shaping patient outcomes through clinical expertise, team mentorship, and progressive performance improvement. From day one, you’ll influence care delivery across our medical group and redefine how pharmacy supports wellness in the community.

What You’ll Be Doing 

Clinical Leadership & Expertise (85%+ of your time):

  • Function as a fully licensed clinical pharmacist—hands-on, patient-centered, and collaborative.
  • Be the go-to expert in ambulatory care, delivering advanced pharmaceutical care across diverse outpatient settings.
  • Mentor and precept residents, students, and interns, helping them build skills that match your standard of excellence.

Team Development & Coaching:

  • Lead with purpose: meet regularly with your team, guide individual development plans, and provide performance feedback.
  • Cultivate a high-performing culture, developing future mentors and preceptors within your team.
  • Design and deliver engaging educational content and clinical modules tailored to ambulatory care staff.

Strategic & Operational Impact:

  • Represent ambulatory pharmacy in interdisciplinary committees, task forces, and quality councils.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, contributing valuable data, reports, and innovative solutions.
  • Assist with goal-setting and strategic planning, supporting the department's vision and future readiness.

Continuous Innovation:

  • Lead succession planning and ensure sustainable growth for ambulatory care pharmacy.
  • Recommend policy improvements that promote safe, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Participate in research, quality initiatives, and performance improvement studies that shape pharmacy’s role across the continuum of care.

Bonus Opportunities (if applicable):

  • Serve as a Residency Program Director or Coordinator
  • Present at organizational leadership events or external conferences
  • Get involved in shaping regional pharmacy practices and policies

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • Pharm.D. degree
  • Clinical experience with 3 years of recent direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Active NE State Pharmacist License in good standing 

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Current knowledge of evidence based clinical pharmacy practice and pharmacotherapies
  • Knowledge of Health Plans such as Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to all age groups of patients served and infection control, safety and risk management standards as relates to the ambulatory pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques relating to staff education and development. 
  • Ability to effectively design and coordinate evaluative studies and research-oriented investigations.
