Overview

Sterile Processing Managers are responsible for the day to day operations of the Sterile Processing Department. They work collaboratively with OR Leadership and ancillary Departments to meet instrumentation and sterilization needs. They are responsible for quality service to the operating rooms and other procedural areas through timely and accurate sterilization of instruments, monitoring and reporting on departmental activities and metrics, managing employee performance and development and adhering to department policies and all regulatory standards. They maintain accurate instrument checklists, sterilization records, and process documentation. They are a resource for all sterilization needs and responsible for following manufacturers IFU.


Responsibilities

Manager-Sterile Processing

Location: Lakeside Hospital, Omaha, NE

  1. Oversees the day to day operations of the Sterile Processing Department and Staff.
  2. Has the authority to interview, hire, orientate, terminate, and conduct performance evaluations.
  3. Manages department inventory of supplies/implants.
  4. Manages individual and team performance by: setting goals, establishing job expectations; monitors performance and progress; provides real time and scheduled feedback. Ability to recognize and apply positive behaviors and work performance, but also, administers corrective action when/as warranted.
  5. Works with Repair Vendor to maintain functioning instrumentation and orders replacements when needed.
  6. Allocate and direct staffing to meet patient, unit, and department needs. Collaboration with Perioperative Director to ensure overall staffing needs are met, while staying within productivity targets.
  7. Ability to perform all duties of Sterile Processing Tech I / Sterile Processing Tech II.
  8. Works with Infection Prevention, Quality, and OR to develop Quality Metrics and maintain Quality Standards and serves as a resource for Ancillary departments as applicable.
  9. Participates in meetings and committees related to the organization, job, and department.
  10. Provides and oversees Staff Education and Competency Performance.
  11. Monitors and reports Productivity and budget variances.
  12. Reports issues/concerns to the Director. 

Qualifications

Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in related field &/or five (5) years of experience.

Sterile Processing Certification through CBSPD or IAHCSM (obtained within 6 months of hire).
