As our Biomedical Imaging Equipment Technician at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, a part of the CommonSpirit Health network, you’ll support patient care by assuring important medical imaging equipment is working properly and accurately. This role allows for health care teams to confidently leverage diagnostic imaging equipment when needed because of the work you do through a combination of Preventative Maintenance (PM) and equipment repairs. This position will perfom regular field service throughout the service area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs repair and maintenance on intermediate imaging equipment, such as Digital Radiography units, basic CT, CT Sim, basic oncology and Vascular/Specials systems more than 60% of the time.
- Utilizes training opportunities to significantly reduce contract dependency for the same equipment.
- Employee functions as a leader in the Clinical Engineering department, providing oversight and assistance to FSS, for the efficient and cost effective repair and maintenance of imaging equipment.
- Effectively handles all service emergencies and necessary communications with Vendor, Department, and Clinical Engineering CE Manager.
- Assists in the ordering of parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of Diagnostic Imaging and Biomedical equipment.
- Is capable of providing coverage and support for CE Manager during manager’s absence.
- Provides input to the CE Manager regarding new service opportunities within a location serviced by the Clinical Engineering Division.
- Provides appropriate service cost history to the CE Manager with an emphasis on Contract Vs. Time and Material contrast for the continual reduction of service expense.
- May also provide repair and maintenance of general biomedical equipment as secondary responsibility or as assigned.

Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC) – Bergan Mercy, a member of the CHI Health network, is a 396 bed Academic Medical Center in Omaha, NE, featuring a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Primary Stroke Center. CUMC focuses on Cancer Care, Heart and Vascular Care, Neurosurgery, and Women’s Health. CUMC has the largest, most modern ICU in the region and has a new ED and Clinical Decision and Treatment Unit. As a Biomedical Technician in this facility you will be part of our Clinical Engineering team that manages 16,800 assets across a wide spectrum of modalities.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or related field, equivalent military education, graduate of technical program, or equivalent training validated through training certificates, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years’ experience servicing medical imaging equipment such as General X-Ray (Rad, including but not limited to Rad Rooms, Portables and C-Arms)
- Must have the ability to repair and maintain a wide variety of imaging equipment and general biomed equipment.
- Valid Driver's License required
- Reliable transportation required
- CRES preferred
