The posted compensation range of $17.28 - $24.41 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will deliver essential direct patient care under the supervision of our clinical team. Leveraging your knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical terminology, you will perform a range of daily duties.
Every day you will actively assist patients with personal care, mobility, and feeding, monitoring vital signs, documenting observations, and maintaining a therapeutic and organized patient environment. You will also work closely with the nursing team to prepare patients for procedures or transport.
To be successful in this role requires a genuine passion for patient well-being, diligence in executing tasks, keen observational skills regarding patient conditions, and a proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.
What you'll do...
- Provides basic nursing care within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychological and physical needs of patients, such as, positioning, lifting and turning patients; applying/utilizing special equipment; monitoring skin condition; assisting in toileting and ambulating patients.
- Performs basic patient care responsibilities considering the needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
- Answer patients’ call lights, anticipates their needs and makes rounds to assigned patients. Responds to patient in emergency or physically distressful condition.
- Follows established infection control practices.
- Obtains and documents temperatures, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, intake and output, as well as but not limited to hourly rounding, ADL charting, daily swingbed activities, etc.
- Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge of patient. Transports patients to and from various departments, as required.
Job Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the state of North Dakota OR North Dakota Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
CHI Oakes Hospital, is a 20-bed critical access hospital that provides various inpatient and outpatient services to approximately 14,000 people in southeastern North Dakota. It is also a 24-Hour Emergency Level V Trauma Center. The hospital building was newly-constructed in 2007, replacing a 50-year old building, and in 2010, Oakes Community Clinic was opened within the hospital building. The hospital is part of a larger values-based organization, CommonSpirit Health.
