Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), you will be a cornerstone of patient care, directly contributing to comfort, safety, and recovery by providing essential support under RN direction.

What you'll do...
- Provides basic nursing care within scope of practice and according to age specific needs. -bathing, hygiene, feeding, elimination needs, and patient activities.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care.
- Performs assigned nursing data collection and reports any irregularities to appropriate nursing personal in timely manner vital signs, weights, intake and output, and glucose readings.
- Participates in implementation of care plan according to individual patient needs; distributes water glasses, meal trays and snacks in a timely manner, collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens following correct procedure.
- Assists designated personnel with procedures, treatments or examinations as required.
- Uses equipment properly and safely, reports malfunctions appropriately scales-infant, standing, chair, wheelchair, bed scale, B/P recording devices with pulse oximeters, tympanic thermometers, Hoyer lift, gait belt, restraints, lead application for telemetry unit.
Job Requirements
Required
- Completion of Nurse Assistant Program.
- Previous healthcare experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the state of North Dakota (ND).
- Basic Life Support - BLS issued by the American Heart Association, within 30 Days of start date.
Preferred
- Computer experience.
CHI Oakes Hospital, is a 20-bed critical access hospital that provides various inpatient and outpatient services to approximately 14,000 people in southeastern North Dakota. It is also a 24-Hour Emergency Level V Trauma Center. The hospital building was newly-constructed in 2007, replacing a 50-year old building, and in 2010, Oakes Community Clinic was opened within the hospital building.
