Are you a skilled and compassionate Surgical Technician looking to contribute to a dynamic surgical team? We are seeking a dedicated individual to ensure a safe and efficient operating room environment, ultimately impacting patient outcomes.
- Preparation & Sterilization: Thoroughly prepare the operating room by selecting, sterilizing, and organizing all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies based on the specific surgical procedure.
- Aseptic Technique: Maintain a strict sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, adhering to all infection control policies and procedures to protect patients from infection.
- Surgical Assistance: Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide assistance during procedures, including passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing specimens.
- Patient Care & Comfort: Provide a comforting and supportive presence for patients before, during, and after surgery, ensuring their privacy and dignity are respected.
- Equipment Management: Maintain and troubleshoot surgical equipment, documenting any maintenance or repair needs.
- Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, communicating clearly and respectfully to ensure seamless teamwork.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to identify opportunities to enhance patient safety and improve surgical processes.
- Mentorship: Serve as a preceptor and role model for new Surgical Technicians and students, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
- Professional Development: Collaborate with licensed staff to identify your own career and educational goals.
- Compliance: Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies, safety regulations, and patient rights guidelines.
Qualifications
- Minimum (1) year of operating room experience in an acute care setting required.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an accredited/approved Surgical Technician program and/or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
- Current AHA BLS card required.
- Current Fire Safety card required.
This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
