The posted compensation range of $46.42 - $57.16 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Respiratory Therapist, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders. Your role is vital for improving patient outcomes.
Every day you will assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients/families. You'll document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff.
To be successful, you will demonstrate strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and proficiency with equipment. Excellent communication for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, plus a commitment to safety and continuous development, are essential.
- Applies clinical knowledge and expertise for coordinating patient care by regularly planning and evaluating the respiratory care of patients.
- Demonstrates effective respiratory care judgment and a working knowledge of the respiratory process.
- Guides interdisciplinary team members by supervising respiratory interventions and assisting with related tasks.
- Provides leadership by establishing priorities and coordinating respiratory care.
- Documents and communicates all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary health care team.
- Coordinates plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Job Requirements
- Graduate of a two (2) year AMA accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
- A minimum of 1 year primary work experience as a Respiratory Therapist or have successfully completed a student rotation at NHMC
- CA Respiratory Care Practitioner required.
- AHA Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) required.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support required
- Fire Safety, within 90 Days of start date required.
