Lab Assistant Tech- Microbiology

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our busy Regional Microbiology team as a Lab Assistant Technical . This position plays a vital role in supporting our laboratory's mission to provide accurate and timely diagnostic testing for our patients.


Responsibilities
  • Will process Micro samples of all specimen types onto appropriate media.
  • Prepare and sterilize laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Collect, process, and label patient samples according to established protocols.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures, including plating, streaking, and inoculation.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all laboratory activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of reagents and media.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Assist the Clinical Lab Scientist and Medical Lab Techs as needed

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • One (1) year laboratory clerical and/or phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and autoclaves.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
  • Phlebotomy training must meet needs of newborn through geriatric populations.
  • California Phlebotomy Technician License (CT Phlebotomy) required. 
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (AHA BLS) required.
  • Fire Safety Card (CT Fire Card) required. (must obtain 90 days from hire date)

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
