Job Summary and Responsibilities

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Tech to join our Facilities Management team. This position will assist in the maintenance, repair, and operation of the hospital's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to providing a safe and comfortable environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Assist senior technicians in performing preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, and cooling towers.
  • Learn to troubleshoot and repair basic HVAC system malfunctions under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  • Assist with the installation of new HVAC equipment and components.
  • Perform routine inspections of HVAC systems and identify potential problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Respond to service requests and address temperature complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and hospital policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area. 
  • Assist with other facilities maintenance tasks as needed.

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Trade school education with required specialized training in HVAC.
  • Minimum 4 years of recent work experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of small and large capacity commercial-type HVAC equipment required.
  • Required experience includes air conditioning evaporative cooling exhaust and ventilation equipment.
  • Healthcare Facilities services experience preferred.
  • Must have experience with pneumatic controls
  • EPA Universal refrigeration license required.
  • Fire Safety Card within 90 days of hire is required.
  • Knowledge of Building Maintenance Systems (i.e. Johnson Controls Sunbelt) preferred.

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
