Department Support Assistant - Medical Staff Administration

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Department Support Assistant to join our Medical Staff Administration team. This role provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the department. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to providing exceptional support to physicians and staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Medical Staff Office, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.
- Manage and maintain accurate records, including physician credentials, licenses, and certifications. This may involve data entry, file management (both physical and electronic), and record retrieval.
- Assist with the credentialing and privileging process for physicians, including collecting and verifying required documentation.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and presentations as needed.
- Answer and direct phone calls, responding to inquiries from physicians, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment.
- Assist with the coordination of medical staff meetings and events.
- Support the department in various projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year of general office clerical experience required.
- High School diploma required.
- Fluent English language skills (verbal and written) required
- Prior medical office hospital/acute care environment preferred.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with popular word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office or similar software required.
- Current LA County Fire Card required.
