Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team in Clinical Laboratory Services. This position plays a crucial role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care across various hospital departments.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests in multiple disciplines, including:
- Hematology: Complete blood counts, coagulation studies, blood bank procedures
- Chemistry: Electrolytes, enzymes, hormones, drug levels
- Microbiology: Bacterial culture and identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- Immunology: Autoantibody testing, serological markers
- Urinalysis and Body Fluids: Microscopic examination, chemical analysis
- Molecular Diagnostics: PCR testing, genetic analysis
- Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, and automated systems
- Ensure proper specimen handling, processing, and analysis
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
- Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
- Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and proficiency testing
- Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel, physicians, and nurses
- Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and technologies
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of experience in an acute care facility required.
- Required training in Hematology Chemistry Blood Bank Microbiology Immunology and Serology as applicable.
- B.A./B.S. required
- Windows Operating System.
- Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel helpful.
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License are required and ASCP registry preferred
- Current Los Angeles County fire card is required.
- For direct patient care AHA BLS certification is required for CLS drawing blood donors only.
