The Surgical Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical experience for patients and surgeons. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, teamwork, and cost-effectiveness. The Attendant performs a variety of routine and non-routine duties, contributing directly to patient satisfaction and the overall success of the surgical team. All duties are performed in alignment with the organization's vision and values.

Responsibilities
  • Transport patients to and from SDS, PACU, GI Lab, Surgery and other department in a timely manner.
  • Transport blood products, specimens, beds and other equipment required by individual patients to/and from other departments in a timely manner.
  • Checks and records Operating Room temperature and humidity and a refrigerator temperature daily according to department practice.
  • Ensures that X-Ray films are available at the start of each case.
  • Restocks warmer with solutions and blankets and sinks with scrub brushes, masks, and other related supplies daily in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain special care and maintenance of all gurneys and other department equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Checks all Operating Rooms to ensure that appropriate furniture and equipment are available for succeeding cases and returns all unnecessary equipment in clean ready to use condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • One (1) or more year of  acute hospital experience.
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalency required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Fire Safety Card within 90 days of hire.
  • Able to read and write in the English language. Adequate communication skills are necessary.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement
