Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Volunteer Coordinator, you will develop and maintain vital volunteer initiatives, enhancing community engagement and program support.

Every day you will oversee and cultivate the Auxiliary Evening and Weekend, First Steps, and Junior Volunteer Programs. You will also lead the development and execution of Volunteer Community Outreach Programs.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong organizational and program development skills, with a proven ability to engage, motivate, and manage diverse volunteer groups. Excellent communication and a passion for community service are essential.

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks and procedures according to Medical Center policy and procedure. Including, but not limited to:
  • Oversees day to day functions of the Volunteer Services Department. Available to potential/current volunteers requests for information, support or problem resolution.
  • Begins initial review process of volunteer applicants.
  • Assesses volunteer applicant for placement and refers to appropriate Medical Center staff and/or Auxiliary Leadership for second interview. Sees volunteer through remainder of placement process. Refers non-routine or unusual applications to Manager.
  • Responsible fpr coordinating potential and current student volunteers. Works with high schools requesting placement of students.
  • Assists Manager with New Volunteer Orientation and Annual Health and Safety Review training classes (Mandatory Education). Also assists with ongoing recognition and annual recognition events for volunteers.

The Volunteer Service Coordinator manages the volunteer services office on a day to day basis. Available to all potential and current volunteers in requests for information, support, or problem resolution, including, routine Auxiliary inquiries. Responsible for screening and placement of new routine volunteer applicants and overseeing teen volunteers. Involves Manager as appropriate. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).


Job Requirements

Required:

  • High School Graduate General Studies, or GED upon hire or
  • 2 years college or equivalent experience in volunteer management, upon hire
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Experience speaking before groups
  • Must demonstrate good judgement, interpersonal communication skills and problem solving
  • Proficient in GoogleSpace
  • Type 45 wpm
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
