Referral Coordinator

Position Summary

• Primarily works and provides education to Family Practice Residents and nurse practitioners.
• Reviews request for required tests or documentation prior to obtaining authorization.
• Assures that the request is for a contracted facility or provider. Obtain authorization, and schedule patient.
• Performs other clerical duties to support of the unit such as ordering supplies, statistics, report preparation and other functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Understand medical records and schedule appointments in a more complex outpatient setting.
• Knowledge and ability to assure appropriate use of CPT and ICD codes.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous medical office experience.
• Medical Terminology
• Bilingual
