The posted compensation range of $43.20 - $64.26 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
Provides laboratory testing to inpatients and outpatients, quality control, instrument maintenance, and related record keeping and result reporting. Responsible for developing and maintaining a laboratory section (e.g., chemistry, microbiology, transfusion services/coagulation hematology/urinalysisPoint of Care Testing, Laboratory Information System) procedures, operations, technical activities, and training in accordance with all California State Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS/Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act/CLIA) Joint Commission (JC) regulatory guidelines and established MMCM policies. May be assigned to or rotate to various areas such as: Microbiology, Chemistry/Special Chemistry, Transfusion Services, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Immunology. Patients served are neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.
- Performs a variety of chemical, hematologic, microscopic, bacteriologic, and immunologic tests and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
- Performs tests and procedures based on area, being aware of differences and making adjustments to testing procedures due to the patient's age, body chemistry, sex or disorder that may cause differences in normal range results.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services of high complexity based on the age of the patient served. Demonstrates the understanding of growth and development over the life span and possesses the technical ability to produce test results and compare those results to the reference ranges established for that age group.
- Performs STAT and ASAP testing within the established turnaround times. Addition: Reports and Documents all Critical Values and Results consistent with established Clinical Laboratory and MMCM Policy.
- Maintains a good working knowledge of the laboratory computer system, including entering patient demographics, specimen order entry, result collation, result certification, result inquiry, and report distribution. Must be able to amend results, document results called to other health care providers, print work documents, print and reconcile incomplete worksheets, and perform minor troubleshooting.
- Must also be able to shut down or start up the various LIS workstations using established procedures.
- Attendance: Ensures optimum operation of the department through good attendance history and flexibility with assigned shift. Is on time for scheduled shift.

- Computer literate

- One (1) year of experience in an acute care facility.
