Responsibilities

Overview:

As our Manager of Labor and Delivery at St. Luke’s Health Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, TX, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, you’ll oversee a department of frontline nurses and act as the conduit between these caregivers and leadership teams. You will communicate the organization’s goals to the nursing staff as we constantly seek to improve patient experiences, reach out to our community, and deliver quality care. At the same time, you will advocate for your team by bringing any issues, requests, or new ideas from them to leadership. 

To thrive in this role, you must be competent and confident. Utilizing your excellent communication skills one-on-one and in front of groups, you will tackle tough conversations and, above all, be an educator at heart. Every interaction is an opportunity to share your knowledge with others and improve their understanding of a patient’s needs, the needs of the nursing staff, or the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a department of nurses, ensuring everyone has what they need to deliver the best care possible to our patients. Will oversee the Henderson Unit which consists of 12 LDRP’s, 2 triage rooms, 2 OR suites and the well-baby nursery. The L&D is supported by an 8 bed Level II NICU.
  • Will collaborate with the Maternal Program Manager in reporting as well as in our pursuit for Level II redesignation.
  • Engage with the floor. Talk to the nurses, the patients, and families. Keep your finger on the pulse of your department so you can keep things running smoothly.
  • Manages the resources and daily activities of the nursing department while ensuring environmental factors support high standards of patient care.
  • Assists in the training and development of new and existing staff members.
  • Mentor people on your team. Share your knowledge and confidence with assistant nurse managers, charge nurses, and others. Build them into potential nurse managers like yourself.
  • Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes and assigns work to the nursing staff.

We are offering a Sign-On Bonus of up to $5,000 in addition to relocation assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required or  Masters degree and no experience 
  • Three (3) Years of nursing experience required,  clinical leadership experience in a Labor & Delivery preferred
  • Active Texas RN license in good standing 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), and CPR within 14 days (American Heart Association)
  • STBL within 6 months
  • NRP within 6 months
  • Must have effective communication and critical thinking skills; demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written; and basic computer skills.
