Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an EKG Tech, you will perform diagnostic electrocardiograms to assess cardiac function.
Every day you will prepare patients, explain procedures, and accurately operate EKG machines to record heart activity, ensuring comfort and high-quality readings.
Under the guidance of the Market Director of Respiratory & Cardiopulmonary Services, established departmental policies and procedures, and specific instructions, the EKG Tech I performs diagnostic EKG testing to assist medical staff in the diagnosis & treatment of patients. Collaborates with physician following interpretation and charges and edits as indicated. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test.
Job Requirements
Required
High School Diploma or GED & Completion of an approved EKG Training Program & successful completion of examination OR
High School Diploma or GED & one (1) year direct EKG work experience & successful completion of examination OR
Three (3) years direct patient care experience echocardiography discipline required in lieu of certification
Licensure/Certification Required
BLS certification (through an approved AHA program)
